  • Dirt hogs will be available mid January.  Let me know.
  • Recent post from Dr Douglass on vaccinations.

“The growing army of the unvaccinated

It's become a legal and politically correct form of discrimination: Unvaccinated kids are being booted from schools, summer camps, and even doctor's offices.

They're trying to make you feel like some kind of fringe weirdo for refusing to pump your kid full of live viruses, mercury, formaldehyde, chicken eggs, DNA from aborted fetuses, and all the other junk used in those shots.

But you're not a weirdo -- and you're not even fringe: New numbers show that a full 10 percent of American families now refuse or delay common childhood vaccinations.

And that's just the beginning -- because the survey in Pediatrics finds that even parents who toe the party line are having big-time doubts over this whole vaccination thing.

Twenty-five percent of those who get every vaccination say they believe it would be safer to delay some of them -- and nearly 30 percent say they don't think there's any harm in skipping the least necessary shots.

I agree -- as long as by "least necessary" you mean ALL of them!

Here are the facts: Vaccinations haven't protected or "saved" children. They've actually compromised the powerful natural immunity of the human body, making people weaker and sicker in the long run.

The perfect example is chickenpox. Kids used to get it all the time in early childhood, when all it meant was a few days of itching and scratching -- and then they were done with it.

    You probably remember that yourself.

Today, the chickenpox vaccine has practically eliminated it in those early years -- but vaccinated kids and adults alike are now getting it later in life instead, when it can be dangerous and even deadly.

That's just one shot -- the rest are no better, and many are far worse.

TheInstituteofMedicinerecently admitted that common vaccines can cause seizures, brain inflammation, infection, body encephalitis, pneumonia, meningitis, hepatitis and more -- and this was in a statement in DEFENSE of vaccinations!

If anyone treats you like a fringe weirdo for opposing vaccinations, just show them that. That should shut 'em up.”

  • I am still taking names for anyone wanting a "Dirt Hog".  It will be about another 6 weeks for the next opportunity.
  • The ground beef will be later this month.  If you are on the list and weren't on the last harvest, I will be sending you an email.
  • I have one more harvest for this year for freezer beef.  It is Dec 22.  If all the ones that have requested beef send in their deposit, there will be no more until next year and that will depend alot on what kind of weather we have this Winter.
  • I have received the Salatin books and will be distributing them.  If you wanted one let me know.  I have a deal for you.
  • I am half way through a new book. Pottenger's Prophecy.  It is a very good book so far.  Those of you familiar with Dr. Pottenger's cat study will surely appreciate this book.  It is amazing what epigenetics is all about.  Genes can be turned on and off.  Be careful what you eat!!!!
  • Cholesterol sulfate is produced in large amounts in your skin when it is exposed to sunshine. When you are deficient in cholesterol sulfate from lack of sun exposure, your body employs another mechanism to increase it, as it is essential for optimal heart- and brain function. It does this by taking damaged LDL and turning it into plaque. Within the plaque, your blood platelets separate out the beneficial HDL cholesterol, and through a process involving homocysteine as a source of sulfate, the platelets go on to produce the cholesterol sulfate your heart and brain needs. However, this plaque also causes the unfortunate side effect of increasing your risk of cardiovascular disease.

So how do you get out of this detrimental cycle?  Read the entire posting and learn why a high fructose diet is detrimental.  Here is that paragraph.    According to Dr. Seneff:

"If you're eating a high fructose diet, which most people in America are, one of the things your liver is going to have to do is to turn that fructose into fat... and it needs cholesterol to store the fat but it can't make cholesterol while it's processing fructose... So when there are high levels of glucose in the blood, your liver is kind of caught in a hard place because it can't make the cholesterol it needs to store the fat that it is producing from the fructose...

I think in many cases, people are facing a cholesterol deficiency because they don't have it in the diet, [and] because the liver is working overtime on other things."

  • The final turkey day went very well.  We had a 28 pounder and was it ever good.  In fact, it still is(left overs) and one breast is in the freezer for later.
  • Three beeves are going to the processor tomorrow.  Those getting beef will get an email, as soon as I get the weights.  Watch for that email.
  • I have a half a "dirt" hog for someone.  This is great weather for curing your own bacons.
  • Milk supply has improved for a while.  Should hold up thru Dec.  We are slowly getting back to supplying our existing customers with their requests.  Now that you are getting more, you may want to freeze some for Jan and  Feb.  Remember, when it gets cold the machine doesn't work and the calves will be big enough to take it all.

"You take a piece of land and you clear every living thing off it–and I mean down to the bacteria. That's what agriculture is.  … Besides the mass extinction, it's inherently unsustainable. When you remove the perennial polyculture -- the grassland or the forest -- the soil is exposed and it dies. It turns to desert ultimately.

Northern Africa once fed the Roman Empire. Iraq was forests so thick that sunlight never touched the ground–no one in their right mind would call it the "Fertile Crescent" now. The dust storms in China are so bad that the soil is literally blowing across the Pacific Ocean and over the continent until it hits the Rocky Mountains, where it's causing asthma in children in Denver.

The planet has been skinned alive. And the only reason we have not hit complete collapse is because we've been eating fossil fuel since 1950. This is not a plan with a future … The truth is that agriculture is the most destructive thing humans have done to the planet, and more of the same won't save us. The truth is that agriculture requires the wholesale destruction of entire ecosystems."

While monoculture is efficient and excellent for increasing production, it also depletes the soil and is extremely vulnerable to pests. The only way that monoculture can be successful, in fact, is with the application of large amounts of chemical fertilizers and pesticides.

The end result is cheap calories, and lots of them, but largely in the form of genetically modified corn and soy, and loaded with chemical residues. This, in turn, is fueling a growing number of health epidemics, from obesity and type 2 diabetes to cancer and heart disease. Quite simply, producing food on a massive scale at the lowest price possible has taken precedence over obeying natural laws.

  • I got a call from one of my "Dirt" hog raisers and he has three hogs that will be ready after Thanksgiving.  Let me know and I will put you on the list.  I sent invoices to nine people tonight.  They will be getting their pork in about ten days.
  • We had our turkey day today.  It was a little cold.  Sure was nice not to need bags of ice to cool the birds.
  • Tuesday is the final day for poultry for this year.  Those getting a turkey, pick up will be at 3 pm.  It went faster today than normal, but we had a lot of good help.
  • Three more beeves are going in on Nov 29.
  • Natto is the only form of fermented soy that utilizes the bacillus natto species. The byproduct of this fermentation is the powerful proteolytic enzyme, nattokinase. This enzyme is known to be a very strong fibrinolytic (anti-clotting), anti-inflammatory and blood thinner. It is comparative to aspirin without the dangerous side effects. Additionally, nattokinase has been shown effective in destroying the toxic amyloid fibrils associated with Alzheimer's disease.
After reading this link, you will know why I opted for Nattokinase instead of Coumadin as prescribed by a cardiologist.  Remember, K2 is in raw milk.

This sounds really good.  I hate to go to the dentist.  I recently sent information about amalgams.  Here is more.

Amalgams are quick and easy. Dentists make more money per chair per day implanting mercury. For factory-style dentistry, where teeth represent dollar signs instead of part of a human being, dentists drill, fill, and bill. The term "drill, fill, and bill" is a joke aspiring dentists learn in dental school. But when it comes to mercury - it's no joke. Please realize that mercury vapor from amalgams passes readily through your cell membranes, across the blood-brain barrier, and into your central nervous system, where it can cause psychological, neurological, and immunological problems.

Yet, even though it may be a few years before P 11-4 and other tooth-regenerating fluids are widely available, there are solid alternatives to mercury fillings available right now. One of the most popular is resin composite, which is made of a type of plastic reinforced with powdered glass. Unlike amalgam, resin composite does not require the removal of significant amounts of healthy tooth matter. Over the long term, composite preserves healthy tooth structure and actually strengthens teeth, leading to better oral health and less extensive dental work over the long-term.

Sauerkraut provides a high density source of a wide range of beneficial live bacteria which assist in the digestive process. Consuming a serving of sauerkraut can give your body as much of a health boost as many of the expensive probiotic drinks and supplements sold in stores. However, most commercially sold sauerkraut has lost most of its beneficial bacterial organisms. To gain the most benefits from sauerkraut, you may want to purchase it freshly made, or learn how to make your own.  We do.

  • The beef pickup went very well, except the processor's machine was not properly set and those that picked up on Saturday got a sweet deal.  Those that picked up know I merely counted out so many tubes to fill your order.  The processor was instructed that each tube was to weigh one pound, but at the end of the day I was several pounds short.  After checking with the processor thinking perhaps they had overlooked a tray in the freezer, it was determined after weighing several of the tubes from another order that the tubes weighed as much as one and a quarter pounds.  The processor said he'd make it right.  I guess maybe he'll cut me a deal on the next processing.
  • Our turkey day is approaching, and we will need to know which day you prefer to pick up your turkey.  We are planning to do half of them on the Sunday before and the rest on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.  If you are getting a turkey, please email me and I can annotate my list with your preference.
  • We are placing our order to Green Pastures, so if you emailed me we will try to include your request.
  • Our current beef genetics are yielding split halves that weigh about 130#; a half would be 260#.  We have had to reduce the size of our cows (it took five years) to accomodate the 30 month Mad Cow Disease rule.  This reduced size has several effects.  We no longer are dry aging our beef for three weeks, rather since the thickness (distance of outer edge to bone) is less, it correspondingly takes less time.  The reduced size may allow you to get a half instead of a split half.  The processing cost is a few cents less, and you won't have to compromise with someone else who is sharing the half with you.  Finally, as Mark said, now you can have your T-bone on your plate with your baked potato and greens beans.  Before, the steaks were so big they covered the entire plate.  Some people had to use a small platter.
  • There will be no milk pick up on Wednesday.  We have a funeral to attend.

  • Finally, Novelty had her calf, a bull.  It will take about a week to clear the colostrum.  This the first  time I've milked her.  She kicks a little.  Good thing Mark showed me how to use this anti-kicking device.
  • Debra and I went to the Small Farmer's Gathering on Saturday.  We bought a trio of Dominiques.   Hope to hatch our replacement pullets for next year.  It pays to go on the last day.  The producers are eagar to sell so they don't have to take them home.  There were some nice, well made chicken housing units for town folks to house their hens.  You could have saved some real money and had a nice backyard "hen house".
  • We bought a big jar of sorghum, bar-b-que sauce, mustard, a wool scarf, some candles, bars of soap and some blue bird houses.   We had a great time and attended a couple of lectures.  Oh yes, we visited with Len Pense, the raised bed guru.  Debra mentioned her problem with horned tomato worms this past summer and Len said, "plant some dill right next to the tomato plant".   Seems the worms like the dill better and since the dill leaf is so small they can't hid like they do on tomato plants.  They so easy to spot and pick off.
  • Beef delivery is tomorrow.  Warrensburg, Oak Grove, Kearney, Leavenworth, Shawnee and Overland Park.
  • Ground beef pick up will be this Saturday, if processor's schedule holds.  Watch for an email on Tuesday or Wednesday if you are on the list.
  • Thanksgiving is getting close and I have ONE turkey available.
  • We are going to make a GREEN PASTURES order this week.  Go to  www.greenpasture.org  and check out their items.  They do not have any coconut oil presently, but have coconut ghee.
  • I have just about finished Joel Salatin's latest book, Folks, This Ain't Normal.  It is a must read.   There is so much wisdom in his book.  If I get enough requests, and the offer is still available,  I can get them at about half price from Weston A Price organization.  Let me know.  Check out the videos at the end of this update if you are not familiar with Salatin.

  • We have two turkeys left to sell.
  • I got a call from one of my "dirt" hog sources and I have three available.  Let me know before Wednesday.  A half will be about $80-90 and the processing about the same.
  • I will know tomorrow about the ground beef.  Watch for an email announcing the pick up day and time.  I have heard from all but three people.
  • The Small Farmer's Gathering is this coming week.  It would make a great outing for a family, and it would be another way to support the small farmer.  Go to www.smallfarmtoday.com/tradeshow and check out the schedule.  We'll be there on either Fri or Sat.  There are some excellent seminars and lectures.
  • The latest issue of ACRE,USA magazine has an excellent interview with Dr. Francis Thicke.  For those that subscribe I hope you read it.  Normally, they post that interview on their website.  If they do, I'll include the link next Sunday.  When you get it, I would hope that you send it to every legislator you know, so we can get them educated in the right direction.  Opposing Farm Bureau, an insurance company, and all the other special interest groups will take everyone's effort.
  • Remember, you get to "vote" in the fall every couple of years.  That is a political vote and as most of you have come to realize that has very little effect on changing things.  BUT, every time you spend a dollar you are voting.  Ten dollars, ten votes.   So if you don't like what a particular corporation, business or other entity is doing, vote against them.  The term "boycott" is a lightning rod for the media, but we can change things with our "votes".   Locally, there is an issue with Tyson and a chicken CAFO.  If everyone in our county would make sure not to "Have their Tyson Today" for a few months, I'd wager they would move to another county.

I sent information regarding “gluing” meat in an UPDATE this past summer.  Thanks to Joseph for the link to a video.  Enjoy.  http://d.yimg.com/nl/australia/site/player.swf?vid=24472661&repeat=0&browseCarouselUI=hide

  • Chickens are done for the year.  Will start a new list in the Spring.  I have four more turkeys for someone.   Let me know.
  • I will be taking two steers to the processor tomorrow and taking two to another processor for your ground beef.  I will be sending an email to those getting their freezer beef. As soon as I know how much ground beef I have, I will email each on the ground beef list.  I may not have enough from this first harvest to satisfy everyone.  There will be more ground beef, so all will get their order filled.
  • If you have bought freezer beef from us in the past, you will notice that your beef this year is somewhat less in weight.  Smaller genetics that we have worked on for the past five years is finally here.  As soon as I get enough weights to establish a good average I will include it in a future UPDATE.  You may want to order a half the next time instead of a split half. If a split half has been too much for you before, now you may be able to get some freezer beef.
  • Milk supply is way off due to the dry weather.  If you are coming from a distance, it would be good to call ahead to make sure we have some.  Most have received about half of what they were getting.  Novelty is due to calve tomorrow.  I never have milked her so I am not sure what her production will be.

FDA Knew: Genetically Modified Foods Produce Unexpected Toxins, Carcinogens & Allergens

"...in 1992 the Food and Drug Administration released its policy on genetically modified organisms, claiming that "the agency is not aware of any information showing that [GMO] foods...differ from other foods in any meaningful or uniform way.

"The government's green light fueled the rapid spread of GMOs and monopolies - so now most US corn and soybeans are GMO, with genes patented largely by one company: Monsanto. The FDA position helped make GMOs' spread so invisible that most Americans still don't believe they've ever eaten them - even though the grocery industry says they could be in 75 percent of processed food.

"Even fewer Americans are aware that in 1999 attorney Steven Druker reported that in 40,000 pages of FDA files secured via a lawsuit, he found 'memorandum after memorandum contain[ing] warnings about the unique hazards of genetically engineered food,' including the possibility that they could contain 'unexpected toxins, carcinogens or allergens.'

"Yet at the same time, public education campaigns have succeeded in confining almost 80 percent of GMO planting to just three countries: the United States, Brazil and Argentina. In more than two dozen countries and in the European Union they've helped pass mandatory GMO labeling. Even China requires it."

  • Chickens are sold for this year.  Chicken day will be next Sunday.  Pick up will be at 4 pm at the farm.  I will send a separate email to those on the list.  If someone drops out I have a couple of names on the waiting list.
  • I have ten turkeys left to sell.  They will weigh  17-30 pounds and are $3/lb.  Someone has already spoken for the biggest one (Karen).
  • The ground beef processing is scheduled for Oct 24, so this week I will be sending notice (email) to those that are on the list for ground beef.
  • We need rain.  I have been feeding hay to the milk cows just to (hopefully) keep them fresh.  Production is way down.  We are reducing quantities to hopefully keep everyone getting some milk.
  • This has been a tough year.  Spring was wet.  Grass had no energy so beeves did not fatten, and then the three weeks of heat was difficult on animals. Now we have the drought.  Hopefully, next year will be better.

  • Just finished a "Chicken Day".   We did 100 today.  Everyone came and since we didn't have a correct count on the stew chickens, we ended up with five extras.  Anyone interested?  They are $8 each.
  • The next chicken day is two weeks from today, Sunday, Oct 23.  Everyone on the list will be notified with an email, so plan for a pick up at the farm around 4 pm.
  • There may be an extra turkey or two as well as a chicken or two.  We will have a final count this week and will post the extras in next weeks UPDATE.
  • Planted my wheat this past week and some more alfalfa.  Now we need about two inches of rain.  The ponds are very low.  If we had a gentle two inch rain, the ponds would still be low.  There will be no pond water until the ground gets soaked.
  • Someone is coming tomorrow for some non-gmo corn cobs.  They are planning a demonstration in KC on Oct 16 and want some corn cobs.
  • Have you noticed corn fields as you drive?  Looks to me like they left  enough in the fields for next year's crop, but that won't work because of frost and Monsanto won't let farmers keep seed.  The fields are turning green and if we get some rain to sprout the remaining kernels, it will be totally green.  Now a biological farmer would let it grow and rotovate it into the soil to feed the bacteria and generate some nitrogen.  Don't hold your breath waiting to see a Howard Rotovater.

An excerpt from Steve Jobs commencement address:

"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary."

"When I was 17, I read a quote that went something like: ‘If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you'll most certainly be right.' It made an impression on me, and since then, for the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: ‘If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?' And whenever the answer has been ‘No' for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something."

"Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don't settle."

Remember, October is the month many activities are planned to inform the public about GMO’s.

The Health Dangers of GM Soy and Corn

Genetically modified soy and corn are two of the most prevalent GM foods in the US food supply, and both have been linked to potentially serious health effects.

For example, one 2009 Brazilian study discovered that female rats fed GM soy for 15 months showed significant changes in their uterus and reproductive cycle, compared to rats fed organic soy or those raised without soy. This finding adds to a mounting body of evidence suggesting that GM foods can contribute to a number of reproductive disorders.  Here is the link,  http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2011/10/04/healthy-foods-you-should-never-ever-eat.aspx?e_cid=20111009_SNL_MV_1
