Breezy Hill Update 12110

Posted 12/1/2010 6:19pm by Art Ozias.
  • Ground beef is gone.
  • I have 7 hogs to pick up on Dec 15.  Two are red waddles.  One is mine.  I will cure my bacons and my hams.
  • Hominy is great.  You can use Mrs Wages Pickling lime instead of lye.  It is Calcium Hydroxide.

Dear Friends,

Jeffrey Smith will be on the Dr. Oz Show this Tuesday, December 7th, discussing the health dangers of genetically modified foods. Also on the show is Dr. Michael Hansen, a scientist from Consumers Union who has been an avid critic of GMOs for two decades, and Dr. Pamela Ronald, a pro-GM scientist who has been proposing that organic foods include GMOs.

It’s sure to get exciting! This is rare national coverage of this extremely important topic that influences everyone.

Please forward this email your friends, post on Facebook, Tweet, etc.

GMOs are discussed during the first 15 minute segment.

Factory Farming is an Environmental Disaster

This chicken contains an anti-foaming agent made of silicone and a chemical preservative so deadly that just five grams can kill you

Here is a comment from someone just learning about the raw cheese raid in south Missouri.

“Sylvia just reminded me of why I began drinking raw milk 18 years ago, while working for an accounting firm. This firm had a huge megadairy as one of its clients, and every year we had to audit the dairy, whereby all the firm's employees had to go to the dairy and count cow... it usually took all the employees, even secretaries and the higher echelon, to count every single cow, calf and bull, even dead ones present during the audit. That's how big the dairy was.

I was horrified by what I saw; it was truly disgusting... and I've always loved farms and cows. Worse, while I was there, the dairy described how milk was processed: all milk is first stripped of the butterfat, and the fat is then added back in precise amounts to achieve 1%, 2% or 4% levels. Of course, the skim, 1% and 2% milk weigh less than 4% milk does, so adjustments must be made to make those milks weigh the same as 4% does, so extra sugar and dried milk is added for extra body and flavor, as well as chalk and other ingredients to milk because milk turns this weird blue color once the fat is removed; not to mention the homogenization and pasteurization process. After hearing all that, I was even more horrified and made a concerted effort to find a family farm with one or two cows that would sell me raw milk that they drank themselves.”

that's it from the hill.  Art and Debra
